I started Marquis Stays after watching a leading real estate firm underperform on my own Costa Rica property. Marquis Stays was founded by Doug, a veteran luxury vacation home owner with more than 20 years of personal experience owning and operating high-end rental properties. After years of frustration with real estate firms managing his own home in Costa Rica, Doug took control of the rental side, more than doubled revenue, and built Marquis Stays so other owners could get the same owner-first treatment for their properties.
Marquis Stays is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, with on-the-ground operations across Costa Rica's Guanacaste province. We chose this structure intentionally: a US-based home office gives owners easy phone, email, and time-zone access to leadership, while local Costa Rica teams handle housekeeping, guest services, maintenance, and concierge in Potrero, Tamarindo, La Fortuna, and the surrounding coast.
We focus exclusively on luxury vacation rentals — high-end villas, beachfront homes, and architecturally distinctive properties in Costa Rica's premium markets.
